You’ll be Missed

You’ll be Missed

People have said my whole life “I bet you can’t wait to grow up” or “I bet you can’t wait to get your first car” or job or house or find a significant other. No matter what stage in life you are in someone older always says I bet you can’t wait……. Which sets our minds to dream and look forward to growing up or making it to the next milestone.

As a kid, I had friends of the family whos kids and my siblings and me played together, grew up together, rejoicing and being excited over every little milestone. All the while our parents were always there in the background visiting, talking about whatever adults at that time talked about.

Running around in our games of make believe, knowing that our parents were there but never noticing they were there. As we grew older, becoming adults, all the while our parents were there, there as they always were.

In my mind it is hard to see that parents also do in fact grow older, they age as the years go on, they have been there watching us grow, never complaining about anything.

It is an unwanted realization that when they get older and an ailment strikes, their bodies have a harder time to fight back.

Last year my good family friend lost their daughter to COVID complications, no one should every outlive their daughter, the pain, the heartache is insane, On November 10th that same family, the father Sidney passed away of heart failure.

My entire life Sid has always been there, he has always been at the farm, he has laughed and joked with us kids, and given a stern warning or correction where needed, he has always been in the background watching us grow and explore life ready with a helping hand or making sure we were safe where needed.

Sid has always been there to watching over us, now taking the next step to the milestone coming forth will have to become the new norm.

Thank you Sid for being an important father figure to me, for loving me like your own, and teaching me the many lessons that I have learned over the years. I am very excited to believe and imagine the reunion Sid and his daughter had at the gates of heaven, together again.  You will be forever missed, enjoy your rest Sid.

Sid you’ll be missed!
