Update on Co-Worker

Update on Co-Worker

I went to see Mitch today and he was so happy to have me stop by, I was the third from our unit to go, and I am so happy he is in good spirits, today was a little bit of a tougher day, as he is weaning off meds some because he is getting migraines.

He opened up to me about the accident, and I just can’t image the trauma that occurred (I will spare you all the details).  When it happened, his leg was flopping around as all the ligaments were torn so on Thursday night immediately after this happened he went into surgery where they re-attached all the ligaments, he may have to go back for ACL surgery but they are waiting to see.  Miraculously he did not break any bones in his leg.  He is not allowed to walk for 6 weeks after the ligament repairs or put any weight on his leg.

As for his arm he broke his Radius and Ulna bones, and his elbow is in disarray, there is no update on how they are going to fix his elbow because if there is a plan, they haven’t passed that on to Mitch yet, so he doesn’t know.

He told me he has been having A LOT of flashbacks to the details (he can’t remember everything that happened) and he is constantly going through the “what ifs.”   I know this is not something to do when processing a traumatic event, and I made it very clear that he is free to talk to me or anyone, and not be afraid to ask for help.

When I went to leave as I was seeing he was getting tired, he sat himself up to give me a hug goodbye.  I know he will make it through this, as he is a strong young man.

I was trying to offer to bring him things as hospital stays are not nice.  so said I will bring a coffee next time, but he wasn’t really in a eating or drinking mood yet (fair) so I offering to bring him a cross word, but he is right handed……. so then I offered to bring him my portable DVD player and case of DVD’s and he just looked at me, then said Sarina I have a phone and my dad will bring me a tablet.  we both burst out laughing as my DVD player is Retro! Hahaha

I will go again tomorrow and Monday to visit him, A lot of you have reached out to say they are praying or giving positive thoughts to Mitch, and I am forever grateful.  I will continue to update if interested. This is Mitchell
