9 months ago while playing a board game on video chat with my family we received a call from the nursing home, it as at that moment I lost a woman who meant the world to me, she was kind, had the brightest blue eyes, a smile that lit up any room she entered and a hug that could melt away any troubles, fears, sadness, or punishments. This woman loved without doubt or judgement, and she was the most amazing Grandma.
To Grandma birthdays were always a celebration no matter if it was family, friends, or a stranger. I remember celebrating her birthday with a meal around the table filled with family and friends, and having her favourite ice cream cake from Dairy Queen but not the chocolate part, like seriously who doesn’t like the chocolate part of the DQ Cake?? (weird)
Today marks the first birthday my grandmother is celebrating in Heaven. There will be no ice cream cake, warm hug from her, or a board game, there is no smile that lights up the room, or a hug that melts all the lifes troubles away. I feel like I should be sad, I feel like I should be crying and upset. I am not thopugh.
As I sit here, thinking and remembering her amazing life, legacy, and heart I am so happy I got blessed with all the years I had with her. she is now in Heaven celebrating her birthday with her husband, (Grandpa) and with Chelsea and Sullivan, having the best cake she has ever had.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY my beautiful amazing grandmother, I miss you like crazy, but I’m celebrating this day with joy of your memories. I love you sooooooo Much!
