Everyday is filled with smiles, laughter, adventures, and opportunities. You just have to seek them out.

This beautiful girl on her wedding day 2017                                                               This beautiful girl, her photo was taken recently.

A dear girl to our community, whom we got to watch her grow, make memories with, welcome her son into this world, made the saying it takes a village to raise a child become a reality, helping to feed, clothes and bring up this little man. All the while helping and walking beside this young woman while she put her feet back under her.  Celebrating her in completing her studies, renting a house, finding a love of her life, and welcoming a beautiful little girl into their family.  Having my beautiful little sister stand for her when she got married.  Celebrating this new husband adopting her precious little boy.  Being there for the best times in life and the worst.

When someone is sick medications are such a powerful thing, they cure many illnesses, they help manage pain and help prolong or give you your life back.

However, when drugs are used illegally, they can and will do the opposite, they take away the pain in the wrong way, they make all the problems disappear…until they come back. They will shorten or end one’s life.

A couple years ago this beautiful family lost a dad and husband when he used the wrong amount of illegal drugs and passed away, we surrounded this now widow and her two little babies. Helping to trudge through the path of grief, listening to the kids and offering kid advice when they feel ready to talk about losing daddy.  My little sister really stepped forward at this time and was the warrior they all needed, she is amazing.

Last year, she was not doing good mentally, the community again surrounded her and her little ones, to help in any way possible.  Offering to take her kids while she got help with her addictions and her mental health, being an ear when she needed it, being on stand by for when  and if she decided it was time to pursue help. My little sister, myself and others did everything in our power to help her and the kids.

That little baby boy whom I watched and helped grow up turned 10 years old on Feb 23rd. his beautiful little sister turned 6 in November, and this strong mother turned 30 on Feb 28th.  She was trying her absolute hardest to live her life, find happiness, pursue her dreams and wishes, be strong for her young and still grieving little babies.

There were times she was ready for help, however there are waiting lists, and in the meantime No matter how much she tried, no matter how much she convinced herself she was ok, she just couldn’t.

This morning I got told by my beautiful heartbroken sister that this 30 year old woman had accidently taken too much drugs and passed from this earth. Leaving this 10, and 6 year old babies alone to navigate yet another bout of grief, finding a new way in life, and find their new normal without their daddy or mommy to help along the way.  The community can and will walk beside these babies.

If you are a praying person, please pray for these two, please pray for their grandmother who is at this point most likely the one who going to take them. Pray for my amazing beautiful little sister who has to yet again trudge through her own grief of losing yet another dear close friend.  Pray that my sisters mental health stays strong, that she can be the shoulder for these two as she is near them.  Pray for everyone involved in this situation.

If you are not a praying person, please keep these prayer requests close to your heart and send good, kind, and positive thoughts their way.

Between my little sister and myself in the last 4 years we have lost three very close people to overdosing of drugs.  That is three too many.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE I beg you if someone close to you is dealing with mental health, or addiction, to please do what you can to help them, do what you can to stand by them, and do what to can to support them while they are in the process of saying yes I need help and willing to accept it.

If you are dealing with anything, please know that I hear you, I am here for you, I will be your support, your shoulder, and I will walk beside you while you prepare for saying yes, and while you receive the help you’ve asked for.

Days don’t last forever, one really never knows when they come to an end. So hold those moments close, live them to their fullest, be kind, be loving, be supportive, and cherish every single second so that can last forever. For this young girl, her kids, her friends, my sister and I, those days with her have ended.
