Sitting here at the airport waiting for my last flight home, I think back to the last two weeks. This trip for me was a lifelong dream, something I have ooglieyed in national geographic magazines, looked one line at and dreamt of the day I would get the opportunity to see in person. Never letting go of that dream I finally got to see animals in their natural African environment, how they interact within their species and other species, walk close and personal with a giraffe and see the culture of the three African countries I spent time in. I was able to have this experience with one of my most dearest friends whom we have been bosom friends since age of 5, yes doing the math that means we have been friends for 35 years. We also got to meet and share this African adventure with 9 other wonderful people from all over the world, we had three from USA, one from Brazil, one from Germany, one others besides us from Canada, one from England and two from Australia. I got to have the thrill of zip lining over the gorge of Victoria falls, take a helicopter ride above Victoria falls and the nature park, seeing the beauty of nature, also giraffes and elephants from the air. I can’t describe how amazing these experiences were.
In two weeks I walked 93.5 km when I had my phone on me. During these 93.5 km these shoes held up strong through city streets, townships, dirt roads, nature trails, safari paths, remote villages, resulting in cement, dirt, garbage, shrubs and branches and even safari animal dung.
Once it was time to sadly leave this lifelong dream, we travelled for over 14 hours, made it back to Toronto and had some much needed sleep in the hotel, once we were rested enough, Nikki and I decided to do something fun to end the trip as neither of like to sit around, so we ordered an uber and headed off to Canada’s Wonderland. There we rode every single rollercoaster, ate food and rode some calmer rides, we did two haunted houses and three haunted mazes. At one point I got so scared that I reacted punched Nikki in the arm, I felt so bad, but also kinda funny!
Now sitting here smiling to myself of the amazing adventure these last two weeks have been, my heart is full, my mind is happy, and I am excited to tell stories of this life long dream that is completed now.
If I had to give advice to anyone who has dreams, chase your dreams, because your dreams won’t chase you.
