Had “Butter” Days

Had “Butter” Days

The prices in groceries have skyrocketed, and so I am working on figuring out ways to save money.  For a lot of things, making anything and everything I can from scratch. I have mastered the art of making granola bars, oatmeal breakfast bars, breads of many kinds, and all my meals from scratch.  Some of these I have learned recently, and some I have had mastered for years.

The traditional way to make butter is not possible in my current set so I decided to do it in the Mixer.  I put the cream in and let the mixer do its thing, everything was going great, the cream was beginning to thicken up and the churning was going well, so I let it run and walked away, feeling proud of myself that I figured out this new way to make butter.

Well that is when things went terribly wrong, after a few minutes the mixer started making this awful noise, now I have to tell you this mixer machine was graciously given to me by a lovely woman, it is old but still works, so every time I use it I am pretty sure it will be the last time that it will run. So when I heard this noise I thought to myself this is it, the mixer has finally hit its last leg.

Walking around the corner of my living room I was shocked at what I saw, the mixer had not in fact quit working, in fact it was working so well that the liquid from the butter and pieces of the butter and some of the cream had exploded!

You know that moment when you see something and the world stops, I had that, then I jumped into action and tried to turn the machine off, failing due to getting all that mess exploding on me, so I pulled the plug and it stopped. Whew that was crazy.

Standing there analyzing the mess, I immediately grabbed the dish rag and started cleaning the stove, as I was cleaning I was laughing as I thought to myself this is hilarious even though the stove was clean I needed to take a photo of what was left to clean.

Here is an inventory:

The burners on the stove, the tops of the stove, under the burners when you lift the top up, down the side of the stove, down the side of the cupboard, behind the stove, the wall behind the stove, the floor behind the stove, the wall beside the mixer, the knives set, and last but not least the floor inform of the mixer and the stove. Being barefoot I am trying to clean it up while slipping and sliding on the floor, holding on to the counter to not slide away. After about 30 minutes I finally get the stove, and mixer area cleaned up, but still needed to mop the kitchen floor. Without thinking I walk to the hallway closet to get the mop only to realize I had traipsed the butter mess all over the house!

Needless to say, my kitchen got a nice deep clean, and my whole house got a good mop.

Please note that this photo does not NEARLY do suffice to the disaster it actually was.
