Shaking my head

Sometimes you just have to shake your head.

I was at the bank yesterday, the line was short but the wait was long, I am heading to Africa on Friday and need USA money for visas and such as they won’t take Canadian money it sucks but also I understand.  I wasn’t sure how much to take out so I did the visa calculations and decided on a bit more incase I wanted to get a little item here or there. When it came my turn I walked up to the teller and asked for 300$ USD. I then said but I don’t want large bills I don’t want 100 or 50$ bills so please keep it small bills. The teller went away and then came back 4 minutes later and said ok you have to count to confirm, then proceeds to hands me a STACK of bills, shocked I take it and look she handed me 300 one dollar bills! Ok let’s pause here and think about this, who would ever thing that 300 one dollar bills is what I was asking for? Did I not communicate this right? When she went to get the money did she not think it was strange that someone wanted 300 one dollar bills? Did she not question it? Or decide to confirm that is infact the request? I’m not sure what the thought process was or if I just didn’t communicate properly what I was requesting. Anyways I looked at her while holding this was of money and said I’m sorry no I can’t receive this, I was looking for 20, 10, and 5 dollar bills, if you could please get those for me I would appreciate it.  She does a very big exaggerated huff and tells me to sit down and wait, so I do and then after about 10 min she calls me back and tells me to count the money, there were no 5’s but there was some 20 and 10’s and 30 one dollar bills. At this point I just smile say thank you and head out the door.

Shaking my head and laughing I wonder to myself how could I have been more clear on the request?
