This morning I was scootering into work on my electric scooter, I was doing my normal route cruising at 30Km/h on the sidewalk, when a group of people were walking towards me with their dogs so I thought that OK I will get off the sidewalk and I’ll just go onto the side of the road until they pass and then go back onto the sidewalk. In that split second decision I saw a level in the sidewalk and turned the scooter to go to the road.  However the scooter didn’t turn as hard as I thought it would, and I hit the normal part of the sidewalk which resulted in my front tire going off the edge and then the scooter stopping dead in the street.  I wasn’t able to get control fast enough and even though the scooter stopped I did NOT, no I launched into the air, travelled about 5-6 feet, well that was all good however what goes up must come down, and I didn’t come down like a feather no, I literally did what would be have been an epic belly flop in a pool but this wasn’t a pool, it was cement. I hit the ground, knocked out my wind, and did a wee little bounce.

As I laid there spread eagle in the middle of the road, trying to decide if I was alive or dead, I slowly got up, thankful no car was coming down the road at that time, I evaluated myself, Head was good as my helmet was on and sticking out enough to save my face.  Cheek a little sore, hand sore, arm sore, ripped my favourite jacket and scrapped my arm through the jacket, shoulder sore, breathing rough, ribs very sore.  The ladies stopped and told me to sit on the sidewalk and sat down with me until I regained my composer.

Once I was good to go, I asked them how it looked from their end, one said I flew, she said that I was launched into the air. Another told me this is not a good spot to be practicing jumping. And another just sat and asked me questions.

Once they kept going on their way I got myself up and went back to the scooter to see if it still worked, It would just fine, but the handle bars were twisted, trying to move them back, but seeing I needed tools to do I continued onto work.

Thankfully after getting checked out from the doctor nothing is broken, but he said I’m going to be one sore unit for a few days.

It is at this point hilarious thinking about the thinking about the whole situation. Yes I am exceptionally sore but so funny, just thinking about what these ladies saw, just walking along beginning their day and see me get catapulted off the sidewalk and belly flop onto the road hahahahaha.
